Thing 15

Infographics.

I had never heard this term before and had to do some research on what it exactly was.
I could not find Infographics Hub to download but did try out a few others.

The Best Infographics--a collection of infographics
Tried this one. You can only view existing graphics and not make your own. I did find some cool guides about grilling meat and a infographic on when not to post on Social media sites. It had a lot of annoying pop up ads that I had to close to try and view the graphics.

How To Create Infographics--This app is a class on what are infographics and how to create them. There are videos to watch. Very cool app! This is a great app. I would recommend this to people, especially people like me who had never heard the term infographics before.

This is a really great thing for me to use at work. I am always trying to think of creative ideas for signage that gets peoples attention.nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-84529839211749506352014-06-08T11:00:00.001-07:002014-06-08T11:00:58.920-07:00#23 mobile things
Thing 14

I decided to try Vine since I had heard of it and know some people who use it. This app I had to go back and read the directions a few times to make sure I was doing it right. Some apps you can figure out on your own , but some definitely need directions to get. This would be a great app for using with the library and posting for others to view, but I am big on privacy so I do not like to post photos or videos where people can be identified. In my personal life, I would very rarely use it unless to send something to close family or friends . This would seem geared towards younger people who share more than I do. In my opinion this is an ok app, just not for me.nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-70826146475041230302014-06-08T10:44:00.001-07:002014-06-08T10:44:57.633-07:00#23 mobile things
Thing 13

Finishing up my 23 things today! Been busy with summer reading prep.

I chose to try both Deck slideshow. After a few trys to download , I was able to give it a try. I will confess that it took me a lot of time to figure out how to put together a presentation. I wen back a reread the directions a few times and was able to figure it out. I down loaded the app on my phone as that was the only device that would work. I did like that it already have themes to chose from. Makes it much easier! I would recommend this app but tell the person to play with it for a while to to get the hang of it. I did want to try Lensoo to compare the 2 apps but it was not compatible with my phone.
Thing 12

I chose the freebooks app because I wanted access to help inform patrons of free! books for them to download. There is a large selection and easy to use. I have not read any books for my personal use, but would recommend to patrons as a great resource.

nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-66461817596142744032014-05-12T08:10:00.001-07:002014-05-12T08:10:16.609-07:00#23 Mobile Things
Thing 11

I use the Overdrive app quite a bit. I like to look while I am waiting in public. I also have helped many patrons to download and how to use it. Setup can be hard for some patrons but once the initial work is done , they are happy with the results. I do use this quite a bit at work helping patrons. nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-9425484107369635692014-05-12T08:06:00.000-07:002014-05-12T08:06:41.330-07:00#23 mobile things
Thing 10

I already had Instagram installed on my phone. I don't use it that much as I don't post a lot of pictures. It is easy to use and was not hard to set up. I am using it more for work than for my personal life.nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-41351439523656054212014-05-12T07:56:00.001-07:002014-05-12T07:56:27.547-07:00#23 mobile things
Thing 9

I chose to download color splurge and line camera. They worked equally well and I had a lot of fun changing and adding things to my pics. I did like color splurge a little better. It was easier to use and didn't have as many updates to download. I probably will not use this professionally as much as I would use it personally. I may post pics of my library . nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-90179405182308860912014-05-12T07:50:00.001-07:002014-05-12T07:50:31.996-07:00#23 mobile things
Thing 8

I use the Facebook app everyday. It helps me keep track of my Library's Facebook page and to help any patrons who ask questions or comment . I also use it to post upcoming events and if any new books have arrived at the library. I do get some people who request books thru Facebook. I plan on using it a lot this summer for summer reading.nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-40594355418427443452014-02-24T14:57:00.003-08:002014-02-24T14:57:53.698-08:0023 Mobile Things
Thing 7!

I have the Pinterest app already and use it nearly everyday for work and personal time. This is a great resource for all librarians. I have boards for summer reading, bulletin boards, book displays, games and many other ideas. I have found so many great ideas and things to do at my libray. This app is a must for anyone working at a library. It is a wonderful way to share ideas and get new ideas.nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-35274335533738064112014-02-24T14:52:00.002-08:002014-02-24T14:53:44.547-08:0023 Mobile Things
Thing 6

I am using the Quick Office app. This is great ! I have already worked on docs. while waiting in line and my husband has been using it too. I like that I can take my work anywhere and work on it when I have a little time. This has been my favorite app so far. nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-43404131118861796582014-02-24T14:49:00.003-08:002014-02-24T14:49:58.034-08:0023 Mobile Things
Thing 5!
I decided to try Springboard for this post. I made list of books to read and movies I would like to watch. I really liked the recipe section . Springboard was user friendly. I would recommend to others to try. I have a lot of patrons who come in with notebooks with books to read or things they have read . This app be easier to carry and always have on your person. nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-74968672075423368862014-02-24T14:46:00.001-08:002014-02-24T14:46:13.276-08:0023 mobile things
Thing 4!

I downloaded the Flipboard app. It was easy to use and it was nice to get all news and info in one place, but personally I don't think I would use it that much. It works well to stay informed for work .nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2724041932906033586.post-48496918665326617582014-02-20T17:46:00.002-08:002014-02-20T17:50:09.543-08:0023 Mobile Things
Thing 3 !

I installed the Wi-Fi Finder app. It was really easy to use and helpful. I think it would work great in a larger town . There is not a lot of free wifi except for the library where I live.

I also installed Red laser. I used it the most when I was reading magazines. that was cool to get more info about the storys. I also scanned book barcodes and got reviews of books. this can be a great tool for patrons looking for a good book.

Thing 2!

I finally learned how to use my GPS. I also discovered what Platform my phone and kindle use.

I have a new health app to use and will share that with some patrons I know will like it.
I also learned how to use QuickMemo and draw on the screen and send it. That was my favorite thing. I had no idea I had that on my phone.

I would like a better grasp on all the new technology and apps that are out there and how I can make them work for my library. I think it is a great way to keep in touch with our patrons nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16147071030263951846noreply@blogger.com2
